Location: Augusta, Maine (Hybrid/Remote Options Available)
Start Date: October 1 - November 1, 2024
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 (dependent on experience)

The Maine Math & Science Alliance (MMSA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring excitement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We support K-12 educators through professional development, research, and network building.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research:
- Design and conduct rigorous research in science education, using robust methodologies and qualitative data analysis.
- Collaborate with the research team to develop protocols, collect, organize, and analyze data.
- Utilize qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose) for research findings.
- Contribute to academic publications and disseminate research findings.
- Project Management:
- Manage the project from inception to completion, including budget management and task delegation.
- Build and maintain relationships with project partners, schools, and community organizations.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports and manage contracts with consultants.
- Professional Learning:
- Design and implement professional learning experiences and curriculum adaptations.
- Apply knowledge of science education standards to support curriculum adaptation.
- Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to integrate place-based approaches into curricula.
Education & Experience:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
- Experience in developing K-12 science instructional materials, with a focus on elementary education.
- Expertise in research design and analysis, including statistics and educational assessment.
- Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose).
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, for academic and non-academic audiences.
- Experience or strong interest in place-based education and culturally relevant pedagogy.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Mac OS, and standard office technology.
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary, and remote environments.
