Administrative Specialist to Preschool Special Services
Reports to: Director of Special Services and Preschool Special Services Program Coordinator
The Administrative Specialist to Preschool Special Services plays a vital role in managing the Child Development Services (CDS) transition process for children aged 2 years and 3 months who are suspected of needing special education within the RSU 21 district and catchment area. This position ensures the smooth operation of Preschool Special Services by overseeing program logistics, scheduling, and administrative functions, including email correspondence, phone communications, and enrollment coordination. Additionally, the specialist monitors Preschool Special Services budgets, maintains and organizes office filing systems (both digital and hard copy), and provides clerical and data management support. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with program staff to support the needs of young learners and their families.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED with two years of post-secondary training, an associate’s degree, or three years of administrative assistant experience.
- Current State of Maine Criminal History Record Check.
- Proficiency in office software (Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerSchool) and basic accounting principles.
- Experience with office equipment (computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines).
- Strong typing, keyboarding, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with children and adults.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, multitask, prioritize workload, and work independently.
- Knowledge of Special Education regulations and MaineCare is a plus.
- Prior experience in education is desirable but not required.
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.

Terms of Employment:
- Location: Kennebunk Elementary School
- Hours: 52 weeks per year, 40 hours per week, as assigned by the Director of Special Services.
Evaluation: Performance in this role will be evaluated at least annually.
