Program Coordinator
The Preschool Special Services Program Coordinator supports the Director of Special Services in the RSU 21 catchment area, focusing on comprehensive early childhood special education management. Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating staff, managing the hiring process, providing coaching for new special education personnel, and coordinating smooth transitions from early intervention to school-based services. The role is crucial in developing family outreach programs, facilitating student placements, and supporting due process hearings. By promoting inclusive practices and fostering an understanding of special education regulations, Section 504 accommodations, and multilingual learner guidelines, the coordinator ensures individualized educational experiences that meet the unique needs of each student. This position requires advanced expertise in special education, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to supporting diverse learning needs across early childhood educational settings.
Reports to: Director of Special Services
Supervises: Educational Technicians, Special Education Teachers/Case Managers, Related Service Providers, and other appropriate support staff.
