Special Services Preschool Case Manager/Teacher
RSU 21 is seeking a Special Education Case Manager/Teacher to provide both case management and instructional support for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in both in-district and out-of-district settings. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to oversee the referral process, manage IEPs, and collaborate with related service providers, general education staff, and childcare centers. A key aspect of this position is assisting families in navigating the referral process and potential pathways to Special Education services, starting as early as 2 years and 3 months of age, and guiding them through the transition into the district’s Special Education department. As part of this role, you will travel throughout the local catchment area to support students while managing their cases. The ideal candidate has experience working with young children, assessing their needs, and supporting the IEP team in decision-making for students aged 3 to 5.
Reports to: Special Services Director and Preschool Special Services Program Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Proven professional with enthusiasm and passion, and demonstrated a track record of successfully working with young children.
- Trained in research-based interventions and best practices for Early Childhood Special Education programming.
- Maine DOE Certification Endorsement- 282 or 282B: required.
- Must possess Maine Department of Education’s Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).
Terms of Employment: Salary based on the current KAKEA Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement with additional per diem days as needed to meet compliance, evaluation, and case management responsibilities.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated at least annually.
