Special Services Preschool Social Worker/Community Outreach Specialist
As a Special Services Social Worker and Community Outreach Specialist, you will foster family support systems and develop open communication to nurture students' personal, emotional, and social growth. By building trusting relationships with families, you'll create partnerships that empower parents to become active participants in their child's educational journey. You will travel to area preschools, working directly with students, families, and community members to ensure a smooth transition from Early Childhood services to RSU 21 Preschool. This role requires establishing connections with local support organizations to connect families with additional resources. Your communication skills will enable you to facilitate dialogue between families and educators, coordinate with general education staff, lead transition planning meetings, and work with families and outside agencies to create support networks that honor each family's unique needs.
Reports to: Special Services Director and Preschool Special Services Program Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be licensed as a Social Worker by the State of Maine.
- A Master's degree and successful experience working with students with special needs are required.
- Applicants must have experience working with outside agencies and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication, organizational, diagnostic, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Terms of Employment:Salary based on the current KAKEA Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement, with additional per diem days as needed to meet compliance, evaluation, and case management responsibilities.
Evaluation:Performance in this role will be evaluated at least annually.
