Job Description

The University of Southern Maine's Computer Science Department invites applicants for part-time faculty positions to teach both introductory and upper-level Computer Science courses for our Spring 2025 Semester. We are seeking a student-focused instructor who will have full responsibility for course delivery and grading.

The University of Southern Maine's Department of Computer Science provides a solid and complete computer science education built upon the foundation of mathematics, science, and liberal arts. Undergraduate programs are broadly based, with opportunities to specialize. We also offer cutting-edge technical electives allowing our students to specialize in emerging computer science content areas.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Required Qualifications :

  • An MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
