Commercial Lending Officer - Sign-on Bonus
Maine Savings Federal Credit Union is currently hiring an experienced Commercial Lending Officer. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in assisting members with their commercial lending needs. You will analyze loan requests and make informed credit decisions, ensuring that commercial members receive tailored loan solutions while upholding Maine Savings' lending policies. One candidate will be hired and may work out of the Portland, Ellsworth, Vassalboro, or Hampden location. This position offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus!
Job Summary
Among other responsibilities, the successful candidate will:
- Interview member loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition.
- Analyze current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decision to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision.
- Prepare and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Explain loan programs to members, evaluates their needs and recommends loan options.
- Establish the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
- Authorize release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waivers of payments, due date change, etc.
In addition, you will be expected to participate in community development and relationship-building activities within the communities that we serve.
Skills/Qualifications
- Five to eight years of similar or related experience required
- Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
- Proficiency in all MS Office applications
Education
- A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
