Maine School Administrative District No. 27 serves 840 students in grades PreK-12 from St. Francis, St. John Plantation, Wallagrass, New Canada and Fort Kent, ME, location of America's First Mile. The district has three (3) schools, the Fort Kent Elementary School(PreK-6), Valley Rivers Middle School (7-8), and Fort Kent Community High School (9-12).

General Info:
Fort Kent Community High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated State of Maine Certified Science Teacher to join our team. This full-time position includes teaching responsibilities in both traditional high school science and dual-enrollment college courses.
Job Goal:
To provide an educational program designed to allow each and every student to achieve the State of Maine Learning Results, MSAD No. 27 Learning Results and other requirements described in the MSAD No. 27 Local Assessment System and to provide evidence of that achievement to the student, parents or guardians and school officials.
Position Details:
The successful candidate will teach the following courses:
- Biology (High School Level)
- Forensic Science (Dual Enrollment)
- Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II (Dual Enrollment)
Essential Functions:
- Provides curriculum, instruction, assessment and a classroom climate in line with the District Vision Statement
- Delivers the District curriculum to each and every student in a manner aligned with their needs.
- Instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated in a variety of ways to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Administers a variety of assessments in line with stated learning objectives and the District Assessment System.
- Communicates student achievement effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Maintains a classroom climate supportive of the learning of each and every student.
- Works cooperatively with administration and other staff in a variety of school improvement efforts
- Implements all relevant school policies, procedures and regulations adopted by the MSAD No. 27 Board of Directors
- Participates in professional development activities and incorporates new learning into practice.
- Generates and maintains accurate educational records.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records as described in the Family Rights and Privacy Act at all times.
- Generates and maintains all student and management records required by law, District policy and administrative regulation.
- Attends staff meetings, student planning and progress meetings and is available to parents/guardians at times outside of the school day.
- Performs duties assigned by the principal.
- Accepts responsibility for educational materials provided by the District.
- Plans for and supervises educational support staff in line with job descriptions.
- Maintains high standards of professionalism.
- Accepts change gracefully and adapts to modifications and additions to the job that administration may find necessary and appropriate.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience teaching dual enrollment or college-level courses.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with proficiency-based education and instructional technology
Qualifications:
- Current Maine DOE certification in secondary science (or eligible for certification).
- Teacher Endorsement: 395 - Life Science (6-12)
- Master's degree in a science-related field (preferred, especially for dual-enrollment eligibility).
- Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for science education.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and foster a positive and engage in classroom environment.
- Commitment to academic rigor and student success at both the high schol and college level.
- Demonstrated ability to provide an atmosphere and instruction to support learning.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay: $46,000.00 - $83,652.00 per year
