6-8 Functional Life Skills Paraprofessional III

 

35 Hours per week

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Based on Student need, instruct individuals 1 on 1 or small groups of students under the indirect supervision of a teacher
  • Prepare instructional materials
  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by classroom teacher or designee
  • Manage behavior according to IEP and behavior plans
  • May be required to assist students with mobility constraints and toileting, included but not limited to lifting students
  • Support students on Transportation on an as needed basis 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three years of post-secondary education or combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study
  • Department of Education Educational Technician III authorization or able to obtain
  • Behavioral Health Professional certification preferred
  • Mandt trained or able to train
  • Strong behavioral management skills, ability to consistently follow and implement positive behavior support plans
  • Demonstrated record keeping skills
  • Proven ability to function as a team member
  • Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Standing/Walking:  6-8 hours
  • Sitting:  3-5 hours
  • Lifting/Carrying:  3-5 hours, up to 50 pounds
  • Pushing/Pulling/Sliding:  1-2 hours
  • Climbing Up & Down Stairs:  1-2 hours
  • Reaching Overhead:  1-2 hours
  • Bending/Twisting:  3-5 hours
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling:  1-2 hours
  • Hands/Arms/Finger Dexterity/Hand Gripping:  6-8 hours
