Commission Only Advertising Representative Maine Times

Maine Times is seeking commission-based Advertising Representatives to join a growing statewide media company with distribution approved in over 170 retail locations. We publish a print newspaper and also operate a podcast, website, and digital content network. This role offers the opportunity to get in early with a publication positioned for long-term growth.

As an Advertising Representative, you will be responsible for selling advertising across all Maine Times platforms, including print, digital, and audio. This position is 100% commission-based and ideal for someone who is entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and comfortable managing their own pipeline. There is no base salary, but there is no cap on earnings. As Maine Times grows, there will be potential for bonuses, team leadership opportunities, and future salary-based positions.

Responsibilities:

• Sell advertising space in the print newspaper, on the website, newsletter and in the podcast
• Develop advertising packages based on client goals and available formats
• Prospect and contact potential clients through calls, emails, and networking
• Maintain relationships with advertisers and provide excellent customer service
• Track leads, sales activity, and results
• Work independently with access to owner/publisher as needed

Requirements:

• Sales, marketing, or advertising experience preferred, but not required
• Strong communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to manage your own schedule
• Professional and goal-oriented
• Interest in local media, community storytelling, and business development

Compensation:

This is a commission-only role. All compensation is based on the revenue you generate. Specific commission rates will be discussed during the interview process. This is not a salaried position, and there are no benefits currently offered. However, as Maine Times grows, compensation structures may evolve to include salaried options and benefits for long-term team members.
