Key Responsibilities:

  • Write compelling stories about community events, emerging trends, and news.
  • Explore opportunities for investigative and enterprise stories.
  • Cultivate meaningful in-person connections with municipal and community leaders, as well as the wider public.
  • Attend various meetings and events, capturing both stories and accompanying visuals to enrich our reporting.
  • Curate a weekly newsletter focused on interesting people, places and happenings in Bethel and the surrounding towns.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Reside within (or being willing to relocate to) the Bethel area providing an authentic local perspective.
  • Possess clear, precise writing skills, capable of effectively communicating stories that resonate with our audience.
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and integrity in every aspect of reporting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build rapport and establish meaningful relationships across diverse communities.
  • Competence in leveraging social media platforms for both content promotion and story research.
  • Must possess reliable transportation and hold a valid drivers license.
  • Able to work independently and show initiative
  • A bachelors degree in journalism or equivalent experience is required.
