Description
Maine Trust for Local News is hiring a full-time Staff Accountant to join our Finance team.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the daily and weekly expense processing using bill.com. Additionally, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in month-end duties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger management. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, assist in maintaining internal controls, and support the overall financial health of the company.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the Accounts Payable process end-to-end.
- Produce monthly journal entries directed by the Controller.
- Perform timely and accurate reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts.
- Assist in the establishment of internal controls and policies.
- Support the VP of Finance with the coordination of the annual financial audit.
- Perform additional duties related to accounting processes as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management with a concentration in Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with QBO and Bill.com is a plus.
- Strong analytical and financial research skills with a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage workload effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
