Job Summary:
MaineGeneral's Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care is seeking a dedicated General Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing a variety of facility maintenance and repair tasks in a hospital and associated medical clinic setting. Duties include preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and painting, as well as upkeep of the health center's exterior grounds and buildings.
Job Description:
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in desktop operating systems and basic applications (word processing, spreadsheets, email, etc.)
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels including venders and contractors
- Demonstrated human relations and teamwork abilities
- Strong commitment to service excellence
- Ability to follow detailed directions and work independently or collaboratively
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of snow removal equipment (preferred but not required)
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent education and experience
- Clean Criminal background check
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a healthcare setting under intermediate working conditions
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, crouching, crawling, and walking, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repairs for facilities, including minor plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, painting, and HVAC/R systems
- Conduct and document fire drills throughout the facility
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and building discrepancies
- Complete daily preventive maintenance tasks and maintain related documentation
- Perform safety checks in patient rooms and on non-patient equipment
- Collaborate with team members to accomplish tasks and maintain open communication
- Ensure compliance with life safety, patient safety, and infection prevention measures
- Assist with snow removal, trash removal, parts ordering, and inventory control
- Conduct routine environmental and safety rounds to maintain a safe and functional facility
