The Role : Patient Access Representative
MaineGeneral Health is currently seeking a Patient Access Services Representative to perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with direct and scheduled patient admissions. As a Patient Access Rep, you will get to interact with patients frequently; greeting them and their families, checking them in for services, and ensuring information is readily available for clinical staff.
Schedule Requirements :
This position includes a weekend and holiday rotation. Candidates should be prepared to work occasional weekends and holidays as part of the regular schedule to ensure comprehensive patient care and support for our team.
The Work :
- Performs financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with point-of-service (POS) services
- Meets with patient or patient's caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation. Explains the process and addresses concerns and questions
- Communicates with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification / authorization, and ensures verification of medical necessity as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays deductibles, and coinsurance, or refers to financial counselors for follow up
- Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy
