  • The MaineHealth Bright Bodies Program is looking for a Health Training Specialist for the Pediatric Healthy Lifestyle Program. The Health Training Specialist promotes, maintains, and improves individual and community health by providing health coaching to patients across the MaineHealth service area. Working under the supervision of a Project Manager, a Health Training Specialist is responsible for delivering evidence-based programs to participants in a virtual and in-person group setting. Health Training Specialists will be trained and responsible for the delivery of the curriculum. This role may support one or more locations.
    This is a per diem position consisting of late afternoon/early evening hours 1-2 days/week. Parking is free and easily accessible!

    About the program:

    Bright Bodies is a 12-week evidence based Intensive Health and Behavior Lifestyle Treatment (IHBLT) program affiliated with Let’s Go!. Bright Bodies uses a family approach for children ages 6-17 who have overweight or obesity. The program curriculum consists of three key components: behavior modification, physical activity and nutrition education. Throughout the program children and their families will gain insight into food intake and activity levels, while learning concrete skills to promote healthier behaviors and lifestyles along with building self-esteem, confidence and strengthening family dynamics.

    The Health Training Specialist would lead and facilitate group activity classes with guidance from the Bright Bodies curriculum. This position will work with other team members which could include a nutrition specialist, behavioral health specialist, Let’s Go! clinical director and project manager. Training on the Bright Bodies specifics will be provided.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in health education, public health or a closely related field preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Certified Health and Wellness Coach preferred but not required.
    • Experience: Experience in nutrition and/or physical activity is a plus!
    • Knowledge of relevant research and practice in medical care, health education, individual behavior change, public policy, and community health.
    • Knowledge of, and ability to use, a wide array of behavioral and communication techniques to facilitate large and small groups.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to respond to diverse needs from patients, families and employees.
    • Ability to use both written and oral communications with a wide variety of audiences; Extensive public speaking experience.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to collaborate with teams of individuals in diverse settings.
    • Highly organized, flexible, proactive and timely.
