Candidates should be honest, hardworking, team players that are capable of multitasking and excited about learning. Responsibilities would be able to operate Construction Material Testing (CMT) in the laboratory and in the field to evaluate the engineering properties of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt.
Applicate should be able to conduct testing procedures following the standards of American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and American Concrete Institute (ACI). Typical testing procedures will include but are not limited to the following:
• Soils – moisture content
• Classification (Atterberg limits)
• Specific gravity
• Grain size analysis (sieve and hydrometer test)
• Standard and modified moisture density relationship (Proctor tests)
• Aggregate – gradations and relative density
• Concrete – air content, slump, and strength
• Asphalt –asphalt content of asphalt mixture by ignition method, stability and flow of asphalt mixture by way of Marshall method.
