Role Overview
Mainfreight Americas seeks a skilled professional to lead our NYC Ocean Import Operations team.
This role requires candidates based near Elizabeth, NJ, to oversee shipments from start to finish for a set of existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage import FCL and LCL shipments from booking through delivery.
- Operational tasks include booking, tracking, sending arrival notices, arranging deliveries, and invoicing.
- Provide timely updates and information to customers via email and phone.
- Collaborate with branches globally to coordinate shipments.
- Develop strong relationships with third-party vendors and internal colleagues.
- Negotiate quotes and expand business with existing clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, or related field, or at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Background in freight forwarding or international business.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Candidate:
- At least 1 year of experience in freight forwarding, focusing on multi-modal operations like air and/or ocean freight.
- Ability to plan effectively and manage schedules to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
- Cargowise Experience or certification is a plus.
