Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. Duties
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive activities program that meets the diverse needs and interests of residents.
- Plan and coordinate recreational activities, events, and outings that promote social interaction and physical engagement.
- Collaborate with caregiving staff to ensure activities are appropriate for residents with varying levels of ability, including those with dementia.
- Conduct assessments to identify individual resident preferences and needs regarding activities.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs regularly.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and gather feedback.
- Provide aging issues counseling as needed to support residents' emotional well-being.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and promote a safe environment for all participants.
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within long-term care or assisted living environments.
- Strong understanding of dementia care principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple activities simultaneously.
- Compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on enhancing residents' quality of life.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling is preferred but not required.
- Certification in recreational therapy or related field is a plus.
