Mainstay Senior Living is seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated Executive Director to lead their team and care for their residents.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Qualifications standards for employment as an Executive Director have been carefully evaluated using job performance standards that are consistent with equal employment opportunity for all people applying for or holding this position.
EDUCATION
It is required that the Executive Director has a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Health Care Administration or Nursing. It is required that they have an active unencumbered license to work in the state they operate in. Preferred to have additional training in a social or health care related field, relevant to working in this position. It is required that the Executive Director receive required continuing education units for license renewal of the state they operate in.

  • EXPERIENCE

It is preferred that the Executive Director has two to five years’ experience working as an Assistant Administrator or other position closely related to the essential functions of this position, with an emphasis on hospital, Long Term Care or other health care administration. Must have experience in making sound management judgments.

  • SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully to develop alternative solutions both alone and with groups while using reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Analytical: Collects and researches data and synthesizes complex or diverse information using intuition and experience.
  • Customer Service: Manages difficult or emotional resident, family member, and employee situations, responding promptly to their request for service and assistance, while soliciting feedback to improved service insuring that commitments are met.
  • Interpersonal: Focuses on solving conflict and not blaming. Maintains confidentiality. Listens to other without interrupting and keeps emotions under control. Remains open to others ideas and tries new things.
  • Social Media:Utilizes various social media accounts for advertising/marketing purposes per company social media policy. Remain professional, posting are to only relate to community, all comments/pictures must reflect positively. This includes residents, employees, events etc.. Contentiously and effectively work on creative and quality posts.
  • Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Listens carefully and gets clarification. Responds well to questions.
  • Team Work: Balances team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others views. Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Planning and Time Utilization: Consistently plans/coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency without sacrificing quality, accuracy and customer service. Meets deadlines in completing job assignments and special projects.
  • Computer Skills: Literate in Word and Excel, as well as preferred skills in Outlook and QuickBooks.
  • Written Skills: Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar, varies writing style to meet needs, present numerical data effectively, and is able to read and interpret written information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director include overall operation of the communities for the welfare and safety of residents and employees, as well as developing and implementing compliance policy. Management concerns such as employment, supervision, training and dismissal of personnel, and the administrative functions of planning, organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating all activities of the communities must be in accordance with current existing federal, state and local standards, as well as in accordance with the established policies and procedures at the Communities.FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB ESSENTIAL -The following job functions have been determined to be essential to the position of the Executive Director. Time performing task will vary because of fluctuations in workload demands, as well as tasks often overlapping, frequency ranges and percentage of time invested to tasks varying by assignment, day of week, day and/or evening shifts, etc. However, low frequency and percentage or duration of time spent on particular task may not indicate lack of importance. Management reserves the right to modify this list and other functions as deemed necessary. Develop an overview of Community operation by working, overseeing or observing each department.

  • Ensure a high occupancy by participating in inquiries and marketing of the Community.
  • Implement company personnel policies and procedures and assure compliance by staff.
  • Hire, train, motivate, supervise and evaluate Community personnel.
  • Implement company disciplinary policies and procedures.
  • Assure quality resident care is provided consistent with all company policies and budget objectives.
  • Ensure that Community meets the Company’s established standards as well as standards of accreditation established by licensing and certification agencies.
  • Assure that established budget guidelines for Community are maintained through the development, implementation and monitoring of budget control and cost containment programs.
  • Implement timely corrections of cost overruns.
  • Develop internal Community policies and procedures, staffing patterns, salary schedules, job procedures and other matters consistent with company philosophy, policies and budget.
  • Assure compliance with Company policies, procedures and standards, and supports the organizations goals and values.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of building and grounds through supervision of preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Prepare reports of surveys, complaints or other inspections, patient assessment or other audits, fires, or other disasters, legal problems and any other unusual or non-routine matters.
  • Participate individually and in teamwork activities in striving for quality services, resident care, job performance, etc.
  • Attend and/or hold staff meetings and assist in identifying and correcting problems.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions and other information relating to residents, employees, vendors and the Community.
  • Solicit, review, intervene and report complaints and grievances made by residents, families, visitors, agencies, employees, etc.
  • Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in resident’s personal and health care needs.
  • Operates the Community in a manner that is consistent with the “Great Expectations”.
  • Adhere to Federal and State regulations.
  • Perform special projects and other related duties and assignments that may not be recurring as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality policies by consistently being at work and on time; ensures that work responsibilities are covered when absent and arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Maintains dependable behavior by following instructions, responding to management direction while taking responsibility for own action and keeping commitments.
  • Ability to commit to long hours of work when necessary.
  • Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Shows initiative by volunteering readily, undertaking self-development activities, seeking increased responsibilities and asking for and offering help when needed.
  • Sets and achieves challenging goals, demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles, and measures self against standard of excellence.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor, approaching others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position, accepts responsibility for owns actions, and follows through on commitments.
  • Emphasizes quality by demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness and applying feedback to improve performance.
  • Meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates adaptability by adapting to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands and exhibiting the ability to deal frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must attend mandatory corporate compliance training on hire and annually, failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
  • Must comply with standards set forth in the Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Governing Board of the Community.
  • OTHER DUTIES

In addition to the essential job functions described above, the following job functions are important to the proper fulfillment of the duties:

  • Audit documentation for errors or inconsistencies and make necessary corrections or document reasons for corrections not made.
  • Maintain liaison with hospitals and other health facilities in the community, and coordinate services through working and transfer agreements.
  • Coordinate work with state social services and state/federal health agencies.
  • Perform emergency procedures such as basic first aid and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Complete remainder of resident medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. not considered as normal functions.
  • Review and determine validity of licensed and/or certified personnel for meeting the requirements of state and/or federal requirements.
  • Follow established no smoking regulations and report violations.
  • Monitor the workplace for possible health and safety hazards, and assist in the development and conducting of routine health, safety and back care training programs to prevent worker injuries.
  • Assist the Healthcare Director and others in developing, implementing and updating written resident care procedures.
  • Inventory, identify and monitor the storage of equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Develop and implement an organizational structure for the Resident Services Department and Care Managers.
  • Maintain a reference library of written materials that will assist the Resident Services Department in meeting residents’ needs, complying with state and federal regulations and complying with mandates of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Employees in management/professional office role contribute to the corporate culture and reputation in the way they present themselves. A professional appearance is essential in the communities.

Employees who do not meet a professional standard may be sent home to change, and nonexempt employees will not be paid for that time off. Reasonable accommodations will be made where required.

Examples of Appropriate Apparel:

  • Business attire to include:
  • Slacks
  • Capris of a career line with no raw edges
  • Skirts- no shorter than 2” above the knee
  • Blouses- no tank or revealing items. Tops must be at least 3 finger widths wide coming all the way to the shoulder.
  • Blazers and suit jackets
  • Cardigans
  • Dresses- no sundresses
  • Business/career footwear
  • Hair should be clean, combed, and neatly trimmed or arranged
  • Make-up must be professional and conservative
  • Fragrance - Recognizing that other employees and residents may have sensitivities or allergies to fragrant products, including but not limited to perfumes, colognes, fragrant body lotions or hair products etc. Such products should be used in moderation out of concern for others in the workplace.
  • Exceptions: Scrubs may be worn as alternative if job role or duties require. (Ex: ED assisting in move in and activities position).

  • Casual clothing or resort wear
  • Tank tops/revealing tops
  • T shirts
  • Shorts
  • Jeans or casual pants
  • Capri pants that are not career fabric material
  • Casual shoes like slide-in like sandals that look like flip flops or are backless flat casual sandals.
  • Tennis shoes/sneakers/Tom’s or athletic shoes.
  • Clothing that reveals undergarment shoulder straps
  • Tattoos and other body art must be covered
  • Facial piercings are to be removed
  • Non-traditional hair colors are not permitted (ex: Blue, green, purple, pink).
