What a typical day as a Splicing Supervisor might look like:
- Establish and document standardized field operations procedures, training materials, and best practices.
- Provide training and development opportunities for both new and existing field technicians.
- Propose cost-saving measures or enhancements for efficient delivery.
- Assess inventory levels to ensure they meet the requirements, placing orders for additional materials as needed.
- Stay updated on organizational policies and government regulations.
- Work closely with leadership to schedule maintenance, repairs, or replacements when necessary.
- Take responsibility for completing work orders and obtaining accurate signatures for billing purposes.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards for all installation work.
- Access fiber optic slice enclosures and perform splicing of required fibers directly from the ladder.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues using optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifiers, and Exfos.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- HSD, or equivalent education, is required
- Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred
- 5 years' experience working in telecom field
- 1-2 years FTTH experience, preferred
- Ability to climb and work at elevation (from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
- Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces)
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activities (lifting objects weighing over 100 lbs.)
