Install and maintain fiber optic systems —you’ll be hands-on with fiber splicing and troubleshooting to ensure systems work at their best.Inspect and repair old or faulty cables —you’ll identify problem areas and take corrective actions to restore fiber optic performance.Execute fiber splicing —working with fiber lines, whether in trenches, pedestals, or underground, to ensure a secure and efficient connection.Test and troubleshoot —after installation, you’ll ensure everything is up and running by testing signals and resolving any issues.Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment—ensure your tools are always ready for the next job.Prepare and maintain records —track work completed, update job site blueprints, and maintain system designs.Follow safety protocols —ensure safe handling of equipment and workspaces, including operating within OSHA guidelines.Collaborate with the team —work closely with other crew members to ensure the timely completion of projects.Key Qualifications :
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.2 years of experience as a fiber technician, fiber splicer, or in a similar role.Valid driver’s license is required.CFOT, CPCT, or CFOS certification is a plus—if you have it, awesome! If not, we can help you get there.OSHA or CPR certification is preferred (we’ll help with that too).Additional Notes :
On-call availability —respond to emergency calls between 5 : 00 p.m. and 8 : 00 a.m. as needed.Weekend, night, and overnight travel may be required depending on project needs.This position is field-based , meaning you’ll work outdoors and indoors in all kinds of conditions, gaining hands-on experience every day.Why Mainstream Fiber?
