Mainstream is a fiber optic internet provider that focuses on Indiana’s rural communities. The Government Affairs team helps develop policy, partnerships, and strategy on a range of issues, and manages Mainstream’s interactions with legislators, county, and municipalities. Our team has experience working at a high level in government, as well as experience working as rural broadband advocates. As a senior member of our State Government Affairs team, you will develop policy and strategy on a range of issues, and lead Mainstream’s interactions with state legislators. Your experience working at the state or local level in government, as well as working as a policy advocate will be vital to this role.
Description
Design and implement public policy initiatives and engagement strategies with state and local partners. Develop and nurture relationships with key partners, as well as with chambers of commerce and economic development executives. Effectively communicate policy priorities and provide feedback on policy initiatives. Draft policy and background materials for relevant meetings and engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years experience in government, government relations, or other advocacy / engagement roles at the state level.
- 5 years political campaign experience
- Municipal government understanding with work in a municipal office preferred.
- Experience working with federal lawmakers, Indiana congressional office preferred.
- Experience leading a portfolio of policy issues and coordinating policy-focused events.
- 5 years experience with running a political field campaign, fundraising, and other political campaign related duties
- The ability to travel extensively in Indiana. On average 2-5 trips per month during session.
