What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician/General Maintenance I position at Maintenance Department?
The job of General Maintenace I/Eletrician is done for the primary purposes of installing, modifying, and/or maintaining the safe operation of electrical systems and their components; providing information on proper operations; and determining the most efficient installation of additional systems. It also includes repairs in the areas of plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
Electrical work will potentially include the following:
- Installing electrical systems and components
- Modifying current electrical systems
- Electrical repairs
- Sharing safe operating procedures for electrical systems and components
- Repairs of the following: hardware, floors, ceilings, masonry, roofing, glass, woodwork as needed.
- Knowledge and experience in using lifts to move heavy/large items.
- Skills to drive truck with trailer to move items/deliver supplies
- Ability to work in school environment with a team of people
- All other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of commercial and/or residential electrical experience. Additionally, preference is given to a candidate that has experience in facility or general maintenance. Experience in a school system or other setting where the building is in constant use is desirable. Applicant should be willing to work flexible hours with a possible on call, occasional evening or weekend requirements. A willingness and ability to cross over to other crafts is desired. Applicant must have and must demonstrate a good work ethic.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED
