REQUIRED
- A valid Texas Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English
- Over three (3) years of related experience; a considerable knowledge of specialized field such as electrical repairs and electrical codes.
PREFERRED:
Preferred Journeyman's Electrician's License
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards. Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
Examines blueprints to determine layout of wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus.
Selects materials and inspects them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
Determines sequence of activities concerned with installing and/or replacing wiring.
Inspects work performed by subcontractors, to ensure conformance with specifications.
Makes cost estimates for projects.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time and production records.
Sets up machines and equipment.
Helps in training and evaluating assistant(s).
Performs activities of workers supervised.
Drives District vehicles to and from work site; obeys traffic laws at all times.
Strives continually to promote the safety, health and comfort of students and employees in the performance of duties.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
Maintains confidentiality.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees.
Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required.
Position may require overtime and will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty as necessary to maintain function of District facilities. Must perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance preventions before and after trips.
Performs any other maintenance trades duties as assigned by Supervisor/Director.
