Qualifications |
Primary Purpose:
To become a worthy employee of the district by safely and adequately performing duties associated with maintenance, repair or installation of fencing projects, hurricane, wood, and metal fencing, etc.
Education/Certification:
Eight grade education or higher
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must have enough command of the English language to effectively make oral and/or written presentations on activities related to his/her job responsibility.
Be able to communicate using modern communication technology (telephone, fax machine, two-way radio, etc.)
Basic skills in human relations
Basic knowledge of building repair, fencing projects and maintenance procedures
Experience:
One or more years of outstanding performance, while working for P-SJ-A ISD (preferred)
At least two years of outstanding performance while working for a reputable company, which specializes or is closely related to the job responsibilities as listed in the job description.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Technical Skills, Responsibilities and Duties |

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Locates and marks position for posts for wood, hurricane, and metal fences.
- Performs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining of fencing projects, fixtures, apparatus and equipment.
- Enforces safety regulations.
- Plans new or modified installation to minimize waste of material, to provide access for future maintenance, and to avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable fencing projects.
- Cuts and bends posts to correct length and shape by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing piper over block and bending by hand.
- Cuts and threads pipe or wood posts by use of cutters, cutting torch, and pipe/wood cutting machine.
- Joins terminal/line posts by means of sleeves, chain link fabric, tension bars by using cutters.
- Checking out fences throughout the district for tears and vandalism etc.
- Inspects all work done by him or helper to insure adherence to district’s standards and current fencing codes.
- Responds to an/or follow-up emergency calls until the problem has been corrected (to include calls during the lunch hour, at night or on week ends).
- Continuously observes helper(s)’ job performance in an effort to provide a fair and just evaluation.
- Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of material, to provide access for future maintenance, and to avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable fencing projects.
- Performs and supervises helpers when assign to them as they engage in the following tasks:
- Checking and repairing fence district wide, to repair or replace damaged fences.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as required to take care of emergencies.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control. Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions. Work outside and inside, moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot) and vehicle fumes.
Equipment Used:
Heavy equipment, including backhoe, trencher, and grader blade; tractor and mower; riding and power mower; gas-powered weed trimmer; blower; edger; sprayer; striping machine; garden and hand tools; aerator; and water pumps. Light truck or van and goose-neck trailers.
