What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2024-25 #1 Custodian position at Maintenance & Operation?
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Maintain school buildings and areas, and efficient management of the facility as to usefulness, appearance, safety hazards, cleanliness, and repairs. Other job-related duties will be assigned. The custodial position will perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kiona-Benton City School District policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Can provide references that verify dependability and relevant past work experience.
3. Has knowledge of and can demonstrate general maintenance/grounds/custodial skills.
4. Demonstrates ability to organize time well (self-starter).
5. Physically able to do required work which could include some heavy and sustained lifting, squatting, bending, stooping, carrying, possible climbing of ladders, and other functions that are physically difficult and demanding.
6. Must have valid Washington State Driver's License with good driving record, which will be confirmed by Driver Abstract.
7. Able to get along with others (students, staff, parents) and communicate effectively.
8. Demonstrated ability to read and write in English, and follow directions/instructions and perform basic math calculations.
9. Demonstrated ability to present a positive image for the District and willing to follow District policies and procedures.
10. Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be a self-starter and self-disciplined.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Accomplish all tasks in a professional manner.
2. Secure building as needed.
3. Conduct regular inspections of the facility and report needed repairs on work order forms.
4. Set up for special programs.
5. Make repairs as needed.
6. Perform general labor as needed: i.e. moving equipment, desks, tables, etc.
7. Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
8. Work cooperatively with students, teachers and administrators.
9. Possess basic operational knowledge of and ability to operate Custodial/Maintenance equipment.
10. Perform all other related duties as assigned by supervisor pertaining to job classification.
11. Enforce and uphold all District and Building policies, rules and regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit, kneel or crouch, bend and twist, use hands, and talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
2. The noise level in this work environment is moderate. It may be dusty. The person may be required to spend time in the outside elements as required to perform his/her position.
SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Monday-Friday / 8 hours per day. Skills assessment may be administered at time of interview.
