          To safely transport the district’s students to and from school and home and to other activities as required.

 

Qualifications

  1. Must obtain and maintain a AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required).
  2. Must possess a valid State of Arizona Drivers license and a CDL license (required).
  3. High School Graduate, GED, or previous experience in school bus driving, or the exhibited desire and ability to perform the required duties.
  4. Fluency in writing, speaking, and reading Spanish preferred.
  1. Performance Responsibilities

  1. Operate the district school buses in a safe and conscientious manner.

  2. Maintain order on the school bus by ensuring that students are loaded properly and seated as prescribed by state and federal law and district regulations.

  3. Daily perform a routine check of the safety functions of the assigned bus to ensure its safety and readiness for driving.

  4. Exhibit caution and alertness.

  5. Acquire knowledge of all bus routes.

  6. Practice regular and consistent attendance, arriving and departing at the designated times for your position

  7. Practice good public relations techniques with students, staff, administration and parents, demonstrating a cordial and friendly manner.

  8. Identify destination and best route before departing on all trips.

  9. Report all service concerns to the Mechanic and/or Transportation Coordinator as they are identified.

  10. Assist the Transportation Coordinator in setting routes or making changes to routes when needed Assist with bus driving as needed.

  11. Refrain from the use of inappropriate, obscene or foul language.

  12. Report problems with students to the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Principal and complete all required paperwork.

  13. Sweep, wash and generally keep in good repair and condition the school bus fleet of the district.

  14. Record daily mileage and number of students being transported daily on district forms.

  15. Fuel vehicle as required and complete required paperwork.

  16. Perform all duties and assignments and use materials and operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner, using all safety equipment or clothing which might be reasonable to ensure the safety of self, fellow employees and students.

  17. . Attend classes, in-services and seminars as needed to improve knowledge and skills and to keep current with the latest in services, equipment, materials and functions as they pertain to the district’s needs.

  18. Perform emergency tasks as needed and directed.

  19. Listen to, understand and carry out oral and written instructions and directives, and respond with oral and written reports as required

  20. Maintain good personal cleanliness and dress appropriately for the position.

  21. Maintain in good condition and store for safekeeping all property, supplies and materials of the district Assist with district maintenance as needed.

  22. Assist in keeping the district campuses clean and orderly.

  23. Assist in keeping the district campuses clean and orderly Assume responsibility for and secure the district assigned keys which are assigned to you for your job use and safekeeping.

  24. Work efficiently and cooperatively with other staff members.

  26. Maintain district security by locking all doors and gates for which you are  responsible, being on campus only during reasonable hours, and reporting to the Director of Maintenance/Transportation, Business Manager  or Superintendent any problems with locks, lighting, windows, utilities, etc.

  27. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance/Transportation or Superintendent. Work efficiently and cooperatively with other staff members.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, such as boxes, supplies, etc.  The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and to interact with the public and other staff.

    The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately high during the school day.  There may be periods of recurring stress in the performance of this job.

  5. Terms of Employment

    Non Exempt, 10 month position

    2024-2025 District Calendar

    Base Salary: $20.74/hr CDL

    40 hours a week

    Participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) 
    Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance benefits after 60 day probation
