JOB DESCRIPTION

Athletic Field Specialist

The job goal is to provide on-site athletic field maintenance and to ensure a quality playing surface at the middle school and high school complexes including the grounds surrounding the complexes.  The employee reports to the Maintenance Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must hold an Ornamental & Turf license, based on state requirement, as directed by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture
• NC Driver's license for the weight and type of vehicles operated as required by the Department of Motor Vehicles;  CDL Preferred
• Experience performing school athletic field maintenance

• Cut grass, trim trees and bushes
• Provide training related to athletic field maintenance
• Check and make minor repairs to maintenance and grounds equipment
• Order stock, fertilizer, field paint and supplies as needed
• Spray athletic fields with herbicides and pesticides to maintain weeds and playing surface
• Line football field at athletic complex for scheduled football games 
• Check track and field conditions and report any emergencies to the Maintenance Director
• Check outside restroom facilities for cleanliness and safety and report to school or Maintenance Director based on condition
• Calibrate spreader in order to apply fertilizer at the proper rate
• Apply annual fire ant treatment and spot treat where necessary
• Water football field and maintain irrigation system
• Gather soil samples at both middle and high school complexes for testing by Pasquotank Extension Office
• Lift up to 100 lbs
• Exert physical activity in lifting, pushing, climbing, digging and stopping
• Use all assigned equipment in a safe manner per manufacture's specification
• Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director

SECONDARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with moving furniture, commodities, supplies, equipment, etc. throughout the school district
• Assist with other maintenance crews and trades with projects, maintenance, preventative maintenance and/or repairs to all sites within the school district.

  STATE RANGE

 Pay Grade 61

Full-time, 12-months

$2732.96 - $4423.56 per month

(Based on 0-30 years of experience in a school system)
