PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Ensure all custodial cleanliness tasks at all assigned campuses meet or exceed District Cleanliness Standards. Insure each of those assigned campuses are safe, clean, and healthy school campuses. Perform all tasks as assigned to assist in all District performance goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid Driver’s license
Bilingual-preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Moderate computer skills including developing and interpreting Excel spreadsheets
Possess strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills required to achieve departmental goals
Ability to communicate in writing to other staff concerning requirements of the job and other information important to the job.
Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to know the proper dilution of chemicals.
Ability to lead and direct other employees to insure the completion of all assigned Custodial tasks.
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals, mobile computing device (tablet, etc.); ability to operate custodial equipment (buffers, vacuums, water vacuums, etc.)
Posture: Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs; frequent bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including prolonged keyboarding & use of mouse; frequent reaching
Lifting: Lifting and carrying (70-100 pounds); Must be able to exert up to >50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently
Environment: Work with frequent interruptions; must maintain professional demeanor under stress; Must have problem solving skills; ability to work in all weather conditions, both day and night; Exposure to hazardous chemicals/fuels; Work in high noise levels; Work irregular or prolonged hours
Regular attendance is an essential function
Minimum Experience:
Three to five years supervision experience required
Prior custodial experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supervise multiple campus custodial staffs, both evening and daytime, in their performance of all daily assigned custodial maintenance duties in assigned work areas, including evaluating the performance of all individual assigned custodians in their assigned duties.
- Work cooperatively with principals and facilities managers to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.
- Effectively communicate information to staff relating to work assignments, training, inter-office communications/directives and all other related written information.
- Operate, understand, verify and approve individual clock in procedures.
- Use District software, approving employee time sheets, submitting work orders and ordering Custodial Supplies.
- Manage individual and group time issues and complete assigned duties at the proper time.
- Oversee all additional tasks, building rentals at all assigned campuses, school functions, etc. as required.
- Communicate with campus staff and administration to ensure cleaning and disinfecting are meeting expectations of staff and in regards to the needs of the students.
- Work closely with District Custodial and any other Amarillo ISD staff, and public visitors at all assigned campuses.
- Maintain safety standards in accordance with federal, state, district, and insurance regulations and train custodians on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
- Ensure established safety procedures are followed including lifting and climbing. Make sure tools and equipment are operated and chemicals handled according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
- Handle on-call emergency and security related issues for all campuses as assigned.
- Promote team building skills with assigned staff and Custodial management team.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise all assigned custodial staff at all assigned campuses.
