Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, this position is responsible for performing repairs and renovation work in school buildings and facilities, including the maintenance and repair of electrical fixtures. Additional duties include general maintenance tasks and other related responsibilities as assigned. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
*Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical equipment and systems, lighting, HVAC systems, ovens, disposals, ranges, electric motors, compressors, electric pumps, etc. *Plans and completes electrical work for small renovations. *Installs electrical panels, upgrades service for additional electrical requirements, adds additional circuits, and moves electrical receptacles. *Understands and can work from blueprints, electrical diagrams, or engineer drawings. *Ability to bring electrical systems up to code when required. *Analyzes defects or malfunctions in electrical components for repair or replacement. *Assists with general maintenance duties when not performing electrical duties. *Willing to be on call in case of emergencies. *Other duties as assigned. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
*Electrical license preferred, electrical experience mandatory. *Knowledge of current electrical codes. *Working knowledge of techniques, methods, tools, and safety precautions of the electrical trade. *Skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in electrical work. *Frequent and high climbing. *Ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, talk, hear, climb and crawl. *Ability to work in extreme temperatures; tolerate dust, chemicals and other substances and environmental conditions associated with maintenance work. |
