PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of a Licensed Plumber, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
Valid Driver License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Plumbing tools and equipment including but not limited to pipe bender, propane torch, hand tools, power tools, sewer rotor machine, auger, kinetic water ram (air pressure gun), acetylene gas tank, pipe threader, cutter, jack hammer, gen-eye sewer camera etc.; heavy equipment including forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience:
One year of experience in general plumbing and equipment repair, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with the assembly, installation, maintenance, and pressurization test of all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
- Assist in the installation and repair of pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment including sinks, commodes, and water heaters.
- Receive and assist in completing work orders and help to maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
- Evaluate and repair plumbing equipment such as flush valves, faucets, water heaters, boilers, and other plumbing equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for work order maintenance, follow preventative maintenance schedule, and respond to emergency plumbing problems
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Abide by State and Federal laws, District policies, campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
