OVERVIEW:
To install, repair and maintain plumbing systems in order to provide comfort and safety within facilities; to ensure adequate materials are available for timely completion of job functions; and to respond to emergency situations to preserve property and public safety.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School education or equivalent
- Valid Arizona driver’s license
- Minimum five years plumbing experience including two years service repair work
- Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and safe working practices of the trade
- Knowledge of plumbing codes
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and work from blueprints
- Ability to perform all types of repairs and maintenance on heating systems, boilers, piping systems, controls, blowers, heat exchangers, etc
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc)
- Ability to perform work assignments in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions and with minimum supervision
- Ability to work alone when necessary; to lift and/or to move up to 100 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete all types of plumbing work per work orders; install new plumbing systems as needed
- Perform all types of repairs and maintenance on piping systems
- Maintain accurate records on all equipment, repairs and/or replacement
- Process completed work orders on computerized system
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
SUPERVISION
Plumber J Lead
Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
