What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Systems Supervisor position at MAINTENANCE?
Primary Purpose
Assist the Director of Maintenance in managing and maintaining the district's life safety systems including troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, upgrading and installation of hardware as needed to maintain a condition of excellence in the district's facilities. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
High school diploma or GED
Two-year college degree preferred
Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check - must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of computer software: MS Office Suite, RS Means Construction, Work Order and Inventory Management Systems
Ability to understand and perform written and oral instructions
Good understanding of construction techniques and procedures
Ability to generate design specifications
Ability to manage minor construction projects
Ability to understand operation of equipment
Ability to read, follow and interpret schematic diagrams for equipment under test
Ability to test electrical/electronic components and devices
Knowledge of computer software programming specific purpose hardware
Knowledge of basic IP communications over a network
Knowledge of low voltage applications as it relates to life safety systems
Knowledge of inspection and permitting requirements related to boilers, elevators, fire and sprinkler systems, wash and vent hood systems
Experience
Minimum of 5 years successful experience in safety systems, sound, or intercom required
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess and schedule the repair and preventive maintenance of district life safety systems, clocks, intercom, sound systems and elevators.
- Schedule and assist in the inspection of life safety systems, boilers, elevators, vent hood and wash hood systems by local municipalities.
- Schedule, document and maintain records of district building inspections by local fire marshal.
- Coordinate fire marshal walk through, repair and preventive maintenance schedules with school administrators, contractors, purchasing and maintenance supervisors.
- Maintain a database of: sprinkler head cleaning; system testing, inspections and permitting; building life safety system type and design; equipment and system life cycle and replacement schedules.
- Assist Facility Services with bond related construction as it pertains to design specifications and installation of life safety systems, clocks, elevators, intercom and sound systems.
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate job performance of repair technicians.
- Review, prioritize and disseminate daily work order assignments.
- Schedule and participate in afterhours response to fire alarms, system trouble and other life safety emergencies at district buildings.
- Provide fire panel training and active alarm protocols to campus staff and Lead Custodian.
- Participate in Facility Modifications Review Committee to review all submitted facility modifications for life safety implications, egress and ingress and fire code compliance.
- Report unsafe conditions and practices that would possibly result in an occupational illness or injury to staff or student.
