What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Grounds Worker (Hourly) - Summer 2025 position at MAINTENANCE?
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking summer hires perform seasonal landscape maintenance and groundskeeping work such as mowing lawns, weeding, leaf and debris removal, watering and fertilizing plants, trees and shrubs on school property.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in the care and maintenance of lawns and grasses of school division buildings and premises, including sidewalks, parking lots, fields and surrounding areas.
- Conducts routine and preventative upkeep as required.
- Maintains an inventory of all trade-related maintenance and general building supplies, including equipment and fuel.
- Operates and maintains commercial groundskeeping equipment including but not limited to leaf blowers, mowers, and various attachments.
- Complies with the local codes and ordinances pertaining to the storage, disposal and recycling of trash, rubbish and waste.

Special Requirements: Selected hires must be 16 years of age upon hire and must be available Monday through Friday from May 26th – August 8th at a schedule up to 37.5 hours per week. Current SCPS High School students who are 16 are encouraged to apply!
Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as seasonal (hourly) support. This position is temporary. An employee’s work schedule will be structured on an hourly, as needed basis, and recorded via a time sheet. This position is evaluated annually.
