We are currently seeking a Licensed/Registered Engineer or a PE (Professional Engineer) for a Principal Engineer role located onsite in Clackamas, Oregon. This is a contract-to-hire position. Our client is in need of a highly skilled engineer with the necessary education and licensing to help lead telecom engineering projects.
Required Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Mechanical Engineering (ME). A PE (Professional Engineer) certification is a big bonus.
Licensing: Must be a Licensed/Registered Engineer or willing to obtain licensure. This is not just a years-of-experience opportunity; candidates must have the required degree and the ability to be licensed. Additionally, the candidate should be willing to pursue obtaining a PE if not already certified.
Telecom Knowledge: Experience or knowledge in telecommunications is highly preferred. This can include technologies such as Fiber, Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Microwave, etc. Telecom experience is a huge bonus for the role.
Experience: Typically, a background in Electrical Engineering (EE) is preferred, but Mechanical Engineers (ME) with relevant experience in the telecom industry will also be considered.
NERC SIP Requirements: Understanding of NERC SIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) requirements is necessary.
Job Description: We are looking for a Principal Engineer to lead and manage telecom engineering projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. In this role, you will be expected to handle multiple projects across different utilities and manage them simultaneously. The position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to handle several projects at once.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage multiple telecom projects, including fiber, microwave, and LMR systems.
Work closely with multiple utilities and clients, including BPA, NW Natural, and Pacificorp. You may have to switch between 4-5 projects in a single day.
Ensure compliance with NERC SIP requirements.
Handle end-to-end telecom engineering processes, from design to execution, ensuring optimal functionality and system performance.

Adaptability: Comfortable switching between different projects and priorities throughout the day.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are required to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
