What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian, District Athletic Facilities position at Maize Unified School District 266?
The job of the Athletic Facilities Custodian is done for the purpose of maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment assuring the proper operation of all district athletic facilities and assist staff with any athletic/activity facility needs.
A Day in the Life

Regularly cleans and maintains detached locker room facilities and deep cleans interior sports locker rooms.

Cleans and maintains concession stands and ticket booths.

Cleans and maintains outdoor restrooms.

Assists with game and activity set-up and clean-up.

Cleans baseball and softball dugouts.

Cleans, maintains, and helps organize athletic storage areas.

Conducts regular inspections of athletics facilities, monitoring: lighting, pest control, and general condition.

Utilizes district owned sanitation equipment to assist in the reduction and spread of bacteria and germs. Sanitizes locker rooms, wrestling rooms, training rooms.

Works independently.

Communicates effectively with the Director of Custodial, building athletic directors, and other necessary personnel.
- Assists with custodial needs of other buildings when athletic facilities are taken care of.

Maintains confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.

Performs all other miscellaneous tasks as deemed necessary to maintain a neat, clean, and safe school environment.

Shovels, plows, and salts sidewalks and steps during inclement weather to ensure a safe environment.

Picks up needed equipment, tools, and supplies when those cannot be delivered in order to ensure efficient operation of the facilities.

Operates a district owned vehicle.
Profile of a Successful Candidate
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive district vehicle.
- Is able to fulfill physical job duties of requiring 80% walking, 15% standing and 5% sitting. Time is spent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations.
- Must be regularly available and willing to work 40 hours per week, or such other hours as the district determines are necessary or desired.
- Must have a cleared background check and current TB skin test.
