Job Overview:

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing financial proformas, providing financial insights, and managing the budgeting process for land development projects. This role is critical in supporting financial decision-making, tracking project performance, and ensuring that our development projects remain on target financially. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial modeling, real estate development, and land acquisition analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proforma Management: Update and maintain financial proformas for land development projects in Houston, Austin, and Dallas market. Ensure financial accuracy and provide detailed forecasting and projections.
• Investor Reporting: Prepare quarterly proformas and reports for publication to investors, helping them make informed decisions based on project financials.
• Land Acquisition Analysis: Assess the financial viability of land acquisitions, providing recommendations based on financial models and market conditions.
• Budget Management: Oversee and update the land development budget. Work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure projects stay within budget and meet underwriting timelines.
• Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models for current and future land development projects, supporting business cases for new developments and acquisitions.
• Lot Agreement Management: Track the contractual lot agreement process and coordinate with senior management and developers on acquisition timing and deadlines.
• Business Performance Analysis: Prepare monthly financial commentary, identifying variances between actual performance and budgeted expectations, and aligning financial results with strategic goals.
• Quarterly Forecasting & Budgeting: Manage the quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes, preparing comprehensive annual budgets for corporate planning.
• Financial Tools Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of financial forecasting, budgeting, and modeling tools to optimize financial decision-making.
• SG&A Review: Conduct monthly SG&A (Selling, General, and Administrative) expense reviews with department heads to ensure alignment with forecasts, and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
• Market and Competitor Analysis: Perform market research and entitlement assessments for prospective multifamily development sites. Conduct competitor analysis to ensure our projects remain competitive in the marketplace.
• Modeling for Development Projects: Assist in developing financial models for land development, ensuring thorough analysis and robust financial planning for future projects.
• Work with the Majestic Capital team

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. A CFA, MBA, or other advanced certifications are a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, real estate development, land acquisitions, or a similar field. Experience within multifamily or commercial real estate is strongly preferred.

Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Excel (including the ability to create and maintain complex financial models).
• Strong understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Experience in real estate financial modeling, land acquisition analysis, and financial feasibility assessments.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior management.
• Knowledge of the land development process and market trends for multifamily properties.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
