We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Platting Designer with 2-4 years of experience to join our team, focusing on commercial and residential development projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (training will be provided) and be responsible for preparing preliminary plats, navigating the permitting process, and ensuring design feasibility. This role requires coordination with various governmental agencies, including cities and counties, in the greater Houston area. This is an onsite position based in Sugar Land, TX.
Key Responsibilities : Prepare Preliminary Plats : Create and submit General Plans, preliminary and final plats to local jurisdictions in the greater Houston area, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.Permitting Process : Coordinate with local cities and counties to navigate the permitting process, ensuring that all permits and approvals are obtained in a timely manner.Collaboration & Reporting : Work closely with the design team and report to the Director of Engineering on a weekly basis, providing updates on project progress, timelines, and any challenges encountered.Design Feasibility : Collaborate with designers to ensure that all designs are feasible, compliant with local codes and regulations, and meet client requirements.Industry Trends : Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate innovative approaches and best practices into platting designs.Local Travel : Occasional travel to project sites and local agencies as needed for coordination and inspections.
Qualifications : Education : Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field (preferred).Experience : 2-4 years of experience in platting, civil engineering, or related design work. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred, but training will be provided.
Skills : Strong understanding of local permitting processes and governmental regulations in the Houston area.Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Photoshop and / or IllustratorExcellent communication and collaboration skills to work with team members, governmental agencies, and clients.Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to adapt to industry trends and incorporate them into design work.
