FSQA Manager
Major food manufacturer is seeking a FSQA Manager with experience leading a HACCP/SQF program in the processed meats industry. The FSQA Manager will serve as the main SQF practitioner in the facility and as the HACCP program coordinator. This role has primary responsibilities of managing our sites’ HAACP-based food safety system and SQF programs. This role will assist in the training and supervision of the staff of quality technicians and serve as a technical resource on cross-functional plant teams. As directed, investigate customer complaints, and assist in product trace activities. Investigate and resolve holds, customer complaints and foreign material incidents. This position offers paid time off; affordable health, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; and more. Competitive annual base salary of $75K to $85K, depending on experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
- Conduct Annual Reassessment of the Plant Food Safety Systems
- Manage customer, 3rd party, and regulatory audits.
- Develop and train quality control technicians to complete and monitor the HACCP documentation.
- Assist in supervising quality control technicians.
- Develop corrective actions to FSQA related issues whenever necessary; assist in determining the root cause and develop preventative actions.
- Investigate and resolve holds related to food safety
- Verify sanitation pre-operational inspections and advise the sanitation management of any deficiencies.
- Monitor all quality-related procedures and create or update procedures as necessary.
- Assist the other quality management team members when needed.
- Work closely with the USDA in maintaining compliance with federal regulations for labeling, sanitation and operating procedures.
- Work closely with Production, Customer Relations, Sales and Warehousing to achieve company goals for quality productivity and yields.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and advances in the state of the industry.
- Give daily feedback to the leadership team concerning projects.
- Respond to foreign material and cook temperature concerns
- Conduct HACCP record review and pre-shipment as needed
- Review holds, investigate and provide dispositions
- Review microbiological performance of facility developing action plans for tactical and strategic improvement
- Conduct food safety meetings and provide input during USDA meetings
- Other daily functions as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Required Education: Associate Degree or Higher Education
- Required Experience: 2-5 Years of Leadership Experience in Food Safety and Quality Assurance in the Meat and Poultry Industry
- Preferred: Education Focused in Food Science, Microbiology, Meat Science, or Animal Science
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Must work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively with all levels of management and Team Members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual with the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish preferred
- Proficient in Internet navigation; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Certified in HACCP and competent in implementing and maintaining food quality plans using risk-based methodology
- Understand Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Quality Code and the requirements to implement and maintain a quality management system as an SQF Practitioner or similar
- Be competent, through training or experience, in process control and/or other quality tools to reduce process variation impacting quality and achieve regulatory, customer, and consumer requirements
- Demonstrated leadership, team management, and training skills in a food manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and tools
