In 1996, Major Leaguers created the Major League Baseball Players Trust as a vehicle to channel their collective voices to raise awareness and provide funds for important causes around the world. In the last 25 years, Major League Players have increased the scope to support causes important to them and has supported a wide range of organizations and programs granting tens of millions of dollars.
The mission of the Trust is to engage, equip, and empower the next generation of kids and aspiring baseball and softball players, which includes programming that focuses on education, mentorship, and skills development. It also supports charitable causes and philanthropic endeavors of personal importance to individual players and the membership as a whole, including helping the communities most important to players.
Position Overview:
The Players Trust Intern will gain valuable insight into the management of a non-profit organization that is uniquely associated with a union that represents the Major League and Minor League Players employed by the 30 Major League baseball teams. The intern will assist in various administrative activities at the Players Trust, gaining valuable insight into the management of al non-profit organization. The intern will support the Executive Director, Director of Programs and the overall Players Trust team on various activities relating to programming, community engagement, Player research, marketing and data entry and reporting. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to accompany Players Trust staff in select meetings across the MLB Players Association.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Research and provide information briefings on Players, nonprofit organizations, corporate prospects and other charitable trends
- Add, update and maintain records in Players Trust’s CRM (primary database)
- Compile and analyze data within the Trust’s philanthropic initiatives.
- Create clear, data-driven reports to help the Trust assess programs and processes, and to track organizational goals.
- Provide notes and minutes for select internal meetings
- Assist with drafting internal and external communications.
- Day-to-day administrative duties as assigned by Trust staff.
Qualifications:
- Current graduate student or recent college graduate.
- Flexible, dynamic, and detail-oriented individual who is comfortable managing multiple projects. and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational, research and analytical skills.
- Ability to synthesize, analyze and present information and outcomes effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new systems of operating software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Experience working in the nonprofit sector a plus.
- Interest in baseball and sports-based philanthropy.
Reports to: Joint – Executive Director & Director of Programs.
Location: Hybrid – 2 to 3 days in the office
Salary: MBA Students 30.00 per hour. Recent College Graduates 20.00 per hour
Internship Length: 3 months
