From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we have evolved to be one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 400 volunteers, Make-A-Wish Central & Northern Florida granted 425 wishes last year.
Position Summary
The Development & Events Manager is responsible for streams of fundraising across the Jacksonville region focused on corporate relations and development, inclusive of developing local corporate partnerships, corporate grants, Adopt-A-Wish, sponsorship, and employee giving. This individual is responsible for an overall strategic plan for corporate giving and engagement that supports long and short – term goals of assigned revenue streams. With a strong focus on execution as well as innovation, this position is responsible for ensuring successful event execution, including logistical preparation, vendor management and oversight, auction and in-kind donor/vendor oversight, and any other tasks needed to make our events and partnerships successful. This individual will serve as the primary staff member for all internal event committee members and will coordinate and delegate event needs with other members of the development team. This job requires a dynamic, motivated, energetic, and personable individual with a go-getter attitude and a drive to meet and exceed budgetary fundraising goals.

This position is in Jacksonville, FL and requires the individual to work in an office environment in a shared office space. Incumbent must have the ability and willingness to travel regionally and work some nights/weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Together with Regional VP, participate in the organization's strategic planning process to ensure integration of fundraising, awareness, and philanthropy.
- Provide oversight for and implementation of the chapter’s internal fundraising events in the Northeast region including but not limited to the annual Walk for Wishes (spring) and Wishmaker’s Ball (summer).
- Plan, implement, track, and manage event fundraising initiatives and subsequent marketing/promotional campaigns.
- Develop and deliver presentations to internal and/or external stakeholders.
- Identify, recruit, and manage volunteer event committees made up of business leaders and influencers in the greater Jacksonville area. Frequently communicate with all event committees to keep members engaged, motivated, and uptodate on the status of each event.
- Develop and deliver presentations to internal and/or external stakeholders.
- Work closely with committee chairs to set timeline, goals, meeting agendas, and expectations for event committees.
- Solicit corporate sponsors and donors, managing a portfolio of 150 sponsors and prospects to meet annual revenue goals.
- Secure sponsorships ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 for major events like Walk for Wishes and Wishmaker’s Ball.
- Solicit inkind donations and auction items to meet event revenue targets.
- Drive corporate giving through AdoptAWish, employee giving, corporate walk teams, and grants.
- Develop strategies to secure corporate sponsorships and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Create scripting, dayof timelines, and program slides for all internal events. Oversee run of show on event day to ensure a smooth process.
- Utilize the features of Salesforce in providing a moves management approach to donors and prospects, continuously summarizing facetoface visits, outreach, communication, and proposal details
- Execute appropriate gift acceptance policies that reflect legal and ethical standards.
- Manage workplace giving initiatives for the region.

- Proven track record in in all aspects of corporate sales, including measurable revenue impact.
- Ability to create and manage timelines and deadlines to achieve individual and team financial goals long and shortterm.
- Previous experience developing relationships with constituents and corporations while achieving annual goals.
- Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of people including families, volunteers, corporate executives, vendors, and community officials.
- Highly motivated, goaloriented selfstarter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities; a team player who can work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to effectively work in a demanding, fastpaced, and deadlinebased environment
- Able to efficiently develop and coordinate a variety of activities and programs, working effectively with other staff, volunteers, interns, and donors
- Experienced in a team setting, ability to work well with others, with evidence of strong communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to manage time, adhere to deadlines, and respond to partners in a timely manner.
- Evidence of strong initiative, selfdirection, flexibility, and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Willingness and ability to perform all other duties as assigned, including weekends and evenings as needed
- Minimum experience of 34 years in nonprofit development with a demonstrated track record of managing fundraising efforts and events, peertopeer fundraising, and/or new business development
- Proven success in cultivation and solicitation of inkind donations
- Demonstrated ability to form and leverage relationships with prospects and supporters
- Experience in volunteer management and recruitment preferred
- Must possess an outgoing and positive personality, collaborative working style, and an enthusiasm for building bridges between and among key stakeholders
- Must be able to clearly articulate the case for supporting MakeAWish Central & Northern Florida (oneonone and in audiences of all sizes)
- Possess integrity, maturity, and ethical awareness; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality
- Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office products and donor software (Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce preferred)
