Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we have evolved to be one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 400 volunteers, Make-A-Wish Central & Northern Florida granted 425 wishes last year.
Position Summary
The Development Associate offers logistical and fundraising support to the Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida development team. With a strong focus on execution as well as innovation, this position is responsible for ensuring successful event execution, including logistical preparation, vendor management, sponsor benefit fulfillment, and any other tasks needed to make our events and partnerships successful. In addition, this individual will support the organization’s individual giving and grant efforts, providing support for stewardship and cultivation, grant proposals and reporting, and general administrative duties.
The successful candidate will be an excellent project leader and team player who balances multiple tasks and priorities, working to support multiple team members simultaneously. The position requires superior relationship building and managing, outstanding communication skills, and a solid understanding of the multiple stakeholders in the Make-A-Wish community. The individual needs to be goal driven and comfortable soliciting.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position is in Jacksonville, FL and requires the individual to work in an office environment in a shared office space. Incumbent must have the ability and willingness to travel regionally and work some nights/weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Manager of Corporate Partners, followup after sponsorship is committed to ensure all sponsorship benefits are delivered in an accurate and timely manner. Ongoing tracking of completion of benefits and outstanding needs.
- Creating invoices and following up with sponsors for prompt payment and recording payment details in appropriate budget sheets.
- Collecting and organizing attendee and participant information preevent utilizing OneCause, TeamRaiser, and other platforms.
- Assistance with inkind donor solicitation and strategy. This includes prospecting of new donors as well as filtering through past donors to build master prospect list for auction items, goods, and services for events.
- Processing of donated items once received, including data entry, tracking, and organization.
- Support the Development & Events Manager by serving as a liaison for all vendors and partners for internal events.
- Facebook event management for all internal events ensuring that sponsors are properly thanked, a variety of posts are created and are visually appealing and ensuring that posts are engaging to participants and attendees.
- Event website creation and management for all internal events
- Email creation and scheduling for internal events
- Manage TeamRaiser website and email campaigns for Jacksonville Walk for Wishes event.
- Assist with registration drives, company team captain kickoffs and lunch and learns for the Jacksonville Walk for Wishes with a focus on walker fundraising goals.
- Manage supplies, supply ordering, shipping, vehicle scheduling, logo item ordering for office when applicable.
- Assists with department invoices and expense coding. Creates PAV’s, cc forms, and ensures all vendors are paid.
- Assist as liaison with Orlando operations team for any building and office vendors in NE region
- Manages mail logs for NE office and donor database needs for the NE office
- Strong networking skills to engage with fundraising professionals and share ideas and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and writing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively ask for donations and encourage team participation.
- Selfstarter with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong communication skills to work with a diverse range of individuals, including families, volunteers, executives, vendors, and officials.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Exceptional relationship building, problemsolving, and project management skills.
- Detailoriented with strong customer service skills and a passion for event fundraising and technology.
- Efficient time management skills and the ability to work in a changing environment.

- Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit administration, communications, business, human resources, psychology, or another relevant field
- Minimum oneyear professional work experience
