THE ROLE
Title: Corporate Gift Officer
Reports to: Corporate Giving Director
Department: Development
Position Description: The Corporate Gift Officer is responsible for securing new corporate partners and managing a portfolio of existing local and national accounts to achieve a team revenue goal of $1.9M. The strategic focus of this role will be on employee engagement (WishMakers at Work), event sponsorships, and mission support in the Chicagoland area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Corporate Portfolio Management -
National Partners
- Manage the activation of several National partners that have their giving campaigns already outlined.
- Cultivate these relationships at the local chapter level for potential support outside of the stated National partnership.
- Track moves/updates in Salesforce.
Local Partnerships
- Serve as account manager for portfolio of current partners, ensuring above and beyond “customer service”.
- Act as Lead Gift Officer on two of the largest corporate partner accounts.
- Prioritize and balance current corporate partner fundraising needs and activities.
- Provide expertise and guidance to current corporate partners about fundraising strategies.
- Take an active approach to increasing/diversifying corporate partners’ fundraising pillars.
- Track moves/updates in Salesforce.
Secure New Revenue Opportunities -
- Conduct prospect research and analysis on corporate prospects, identifying philanthropic giving pillars, past financial support, and potential alignment with Make-A-Wish Illinois.
- In partnership with the Corporate Team, maintain current, fluid prospect list and pipeline, adhering to proactive outreach goals.
- Handle outreach to new prospects, even when there is no “warm” connector.
- Manage outreach to lapsed donors in effort to re-engage support.
- Track moves/updates in Salesforce.
Budget Management -
- Responsible for knowing status on revenue goals for each company in portfolio as well as prospective funding pipeline.
- Assist Director with revenue/expense tracking and monthly reporting.
- Assist Director with budget preparation and mid-year forecasting.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree is required
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of non-profit, fundraising, sales, marketing or related field
- Proven record of successful corporate relationship building and goal attainment
- Proven track record of successful prospecting and securing new corporate donors
- Proven track record of strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple relationships and projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of a company
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platform
- Ability to create proposals and marketing collateral in Word, PPTX or Canva

• This position is typically performed in an interior, environmentally controlled office setting. The duties of the job require extended periods of time being stationary and manipulating a computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse), and other standard office equipment including, but not limited to printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
Hiring Range: $74,000 - $78,000
Work Schedule and Location: Hybrid Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday are in-person at the Make-A-Wish office; Monday, Wednesday & Friday are remote. Business needs may dictate the need to occasionally adjust the hybrid schedule; Gift Officer is expected to be able to accommodate the organization’s physical presence needs as part of their hybrid work agreement.
