Makena is seeking a Beach Club Attendant to join the Outdoor Pursuits Department.
The Attendant will ensure that the highest level of service is offered to the members of our Club by providing the member with personal and professional service throughout the property when pertaining to any and all outdoor activities. The Outdoor Pursuits Attendant role is a very hands on role and encompasses the organization, instructing, and encouraging of activities, and as much participation as possible in all activities on property. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet and acknowledge guests upon arrival at the beach.
- Set up beach club.
- Provide service to members and guests at the beach including providing towels, ice water and snack items.
- Provide members and guests with information about the Club and Maui. Assist with questions or requests.
- Provide safety information for the beach area. Reports all incidents/accidents to Security.
- Offer snorkels, standup paddles and other OP equipment to members and guests.
- Transport/ Shuttle members and guests to and from the club as needed, using golf carts.
- Following safety procedures of golf cart driving
- Interacting in a personable, friendly manner with members and guests
- Assisting with carrying items to and from beach for members
- Ensuring golf cart is clean and battery charged
- Ensure that non-guests are not using the OP equipment.
- Maintain clean and orderly beach area including cleaning of furniture, equipment and cabanas.
- Prepare beach area for members and guest’s arrival as scheduled. Closes beach area as scheduled.
- Minimize loss of towels.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Follow safe work practices, including the correct lifting techniques and use of equipment.
- Comply with all Company policy and procedures.
- Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
- Previous experience in the guest service industry
- CPR certification is a positive-Boat captains license a plus
- Certificates/qualifications preferred.
- Experience in hospitality is preferred but not required-Ability to work flexible hours and on the weekends.
- Demonstrates respect for and appreciation of Hawaiian values, history and culture, understanding its implication in one’s work, in fostering meaningful relationships, and in embracing the community served.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
- Expert knowledge of indoor and outdoor recreational activities and sports/fitness programs.
- One year of guest service experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holiday and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, running, moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, heavy lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling sometimes in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
