Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Teaching Artist Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the lead art teacher in delivering engaging and educational art classes and camps for children of various ages. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children and has a strong interest in art education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead art teacher in preparing and organizing art materials and supplies for classes.
- Help set up and clean up the studio, or classroom site before and after classes.
- Provide individualized support and guidance to students during art activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel welcome and encouraged.
- Assist in planning and implementing art projects and activities that are age-appropriate and creatively stimulating.
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Support the lead teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and managing behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as taking attendance and maintaining student records.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in art or education preferred.
- Prior experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or similar setting.
- Strong interest in art and a basic knowledge of various art techniques and materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, energetic, and creative with a genuine love for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from the lead teacher.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require standing for extended periods and some physical activity such as lifting and moving art supplies.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
