Position Summary

The role of the Long-Term Substitute Teacher, under the direction of the Assistant Principal or designee, is critical in maintaining the continuity of learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. You will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging and effective instruction in your courses while creating a safe, supportive, and rigorous learning environment within the classroom.  Long-Term Substitute Teachers are expected to collaborate with colleagues and lesson and unit plan to help students meet and exceed proficiency in content standards based on need.  Long-Term Substitute Teachers are expected to actively engage and participate in culture building, including but not limited to the classroom, lunch, recess/break supervision, and hallway norm expectations. Long-Term Substitute Teachers are also expected to invest and engage in the work of developing a results-oriented, data-informed, collegial, productive, and team-oriented approach to the work.

In light of the ongoing shortage of teachers, this position has been strategically crafted to ensure the least possible disruption in the classroom for our students until a new teacher is onboarded. Upon successfully hiring a teacher, you will become eligible for alternative prospects, including the possibility of participating in other day-to-day or long-term substitute teaching roles available. Your compensation will be appropriately adjusted if circumstances lead to your return to sporadic substitute teaching.
