What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Software Developer position at Makios Technology?
We’re looking for a curious and motivated Junior Software Developer with 1 to 3 years of real-world experience. In this role, you’ll primarily work with Oracle APEX to build and maintain internal tools, dashboards, and small-scale web applications that help automate and streamline our business processes. You’ll also assist with light front-end development (HTML, JavaScript) and basic API integrations.
This is an entry-level position perfect for someone who has dabbled in software development—maybe through internships, personal projects, or school—and is ready to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting. You’ll be supported by a team of senior developers, systems engineers, and operations pros who want to help you level up.
What You'll Do | Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Develop and maintain internal business applications using Oracle APEX
- Build or enhance user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Assist with connecting third-party applications via RESTful APIs
- Support database-related tasks, forms, and reports in Oracle SQL
- Work with internal teams to gather requirements and translate them into usable, reliable applications
- Participate in basic QA testing and troubleshooting
- Keep documentation updated as systems evolve
What You'll Need | General Skills, Certifications, Education & Experience
- Familiarity with Oracle APEX (even at a student/project level)
- Basic working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of REST APIs and how to consume them
- Experience writing SQL queries (Oracle preferred but not required)
- Willingness to learn and follow guidance from senior developers
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented with a proactive attitude
- Exposure to PL/SQL
- Git or version control experience
- Previous internship or freelance dev work
- Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
