Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with Phlebotomy
Reports To: Jody Marsala, Regional Operations Manager
Department: Laboratory and Diagnostic Department
Summary:
This position is responsible for providing a wide range of patient care support services under the direct supervision of a physician or other licensed healthcare professional. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with patient examinations, preparing and maintaining patient records, performing basic laboratory tests, and performing phlebotomy procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Phlebotomy:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to obtain blood samples for laboratory testing.
- Select appropriate needles, tubes, and other equipment for blood collection.
- Ensure proper patient identification and label specimens accurately.
- Observe aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to blood draws.
- Maintain adequate inventory of phlebotomy supplies.
- Laboratory Procedures:
- Perform basic laboratory tests such as urinalysis, rapid strep tests, and point-of-care testing.
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens for transport to outside laboratories.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
- Assist with clinic operations, such as ordering supplies, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education programs.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician's office or similar healthcare setting preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
Salary : $25 - $30
