Job Title: Engineering Manager, New Product Development
Job Summary:
Confidential company is hiring in the outlying Baltimore metropolitan area. This person will manage a team of interdisciplinary engineers to conceive, design, develop, qualify, and test new composite products and Tier 1 Hydrogen gas storage systems. Hydrogen gas storage systems include the full functional assembly to store and supply hydrogen in mobile applications. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of this team through the entire project life cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop capabilities of both the team and the employees with a culture of continuous improvement. Provide access to necessary resources and training materials.
2. Manage employee performance through regular informal communication and formalized meetings. Provide focused guidance and direction.
3. Foster an environment of teamwork.
4. Manage departmental budgets and resource allocations. Provide engineering support to other areas of the business as required.
5. Institute and maintain procedures for Project Management. This includes managing project budgets, schedules, risks and opportunities. Ensure conformance of systems to relevant requirements (internal, customer, regulatory, etc…).
6. Institute and maintain procedures for configuration control of engineering drawings and documentation.
7. Establish and maintain systems and procedures for regular project design reviews. Provide technical feedback and guidance on system design.
8. Provide status updates to senior leadership at the site and corporate level.
9. Manage a wide-ranging portfolio of composite products with an emphasis on Type III and Type IV pressure vessels, tubulars, and composite structures.
10. Manage Hydrogen gas storage systems, comprising the assembly of frames, storage tanks, plumbing and pressure management components and depending on the configuration also including electrical and electronic components, wiring harness, control units and software.
11. Implement a culture of data driven decisions utilizing Design for Six Sigma principles.
12. Assist with business development activities including preparing estimates, supporting technical reviews, and providing quotations as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to delegate resources and experience to meet challenging schedules.

3. Excellent organizational / time management skills – ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
4. Strong ability to understand mechanical systems and industrial processes and willingness to help mastering the challenges of filament winding process on the shopfloor.
5. Ability to analyze technical data and make appropriate recommendations as needed.
6. Ability to use independent judgment within established guidelines and written directions.
7. Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
8. Proficient in MS Project or similar scheduling software.
9. Proficient in concepts and fundamentals of Finite Element Analysis. Experience with ABAQUS preferred.
10. Composites design and fabrication background with an emphasis on filament winding is a plus.
11. Six Sigma, Lean, and/or Kaizen experience is a plus.
Education, Certifications and Qualifications:
1. A bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university in an engineering discipline. Master’s degree is preferred. 2. Previous managerial experience is preferred.
3. Must be United States citizen, lawful permanent resident or otherwise eligible to work in the United States.
Salary : $125,000 - $140,000
