The Position:

Makpar has an exciting opportunity for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Technical Services Specialist.

• Responsible for overall technical project deliverables, customer communications and stakeholder engagement. 
• Test, validate and verify iPad connectivity and operational of supplemental applications.
• Pilot 50 concurrent iPad users using proposed solution Dependencies on either EOps/Cyber selecting (Zscaler or Palo Alto) Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) or using an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) implementation.
• Develop user training guide/documentation.

• Strong understanding of general IT concepts: Virtualization technology (hypervisor/hyperconverged infrastructure, control plane, resource allocation/pooling), networking, Windows server and workstation administration, group policy etc.
• Moderate knowledge of Nutanix AHV product or VMWare administration.
• Moderate understanding of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops or other VDI technologies.
• Moderate understanding of identity management and authentication solutions (SAML/ADFS authentication, Entra ID), Kerberos and HSPD12 requirements.
• Moderate understanding of Federal IT Governance deliverables such as RBDs, POAMs, SSPs, BSRs, UWRs, SecChm, requirement documentation.
• Moderate understanding of mainstream cloud computing platforms used by IRS (Azure, AWS).
• Moderate knowledge of network design including VLANs, on-premise network routing, cloud network design, and hybrid network topologies (both on-prem and cloud-based components).
• Moderate understanding of Cloud PaaS, IaaS and networking concepts and available technologies.
• Strong technical leadership abilities including ability to run meetings with highly technical audiences and coordinate changes across IT business units.
• Strong ability to explain highly complex technology solutions to management and provide technical recommendations and tradeoff analysis.
• Moderate understanding of Zero Trust Network Access/SASE technology and general IT Security concepts.
• Moderate understanding of NIST Security controls and how to address them with technical implementation.
• Moderate understanding of budgeting and procurement process.
